Swimming trophy for stroke victim
David Wilkins and his family thought disaster had struck when David had a stroke three years ago at the age of 40. At first he couldn't walk, talk or use his right arm. But last month, he won the Taylor Trophy for Progress at the Tadpoles Swimming Club for the Disabled in East Grinstead where he has been a member for two years.
David, previously an IT professional for GlaxoSmithKlein, was determined to get well and took full advantage of the resources offered by the Club. His wife Jackie and their ten year old daughter Katie are thrilled with the change it has made to him: "I think it's really given him back his self respect" said Jackie, "being able to do something independently".
Membership
Tadpoles pay a membership fee of £2 per annum and 50p each time they swim.
